*SCARCE* METZLER & ORTLOFF (GERMANY) PORCELAIN ENGLISH SETTER DOG ON ASHTRAY

Description

A scarce and desirable porcelain ashtray featuring a seated English Setter dog figurine by the well known German porcelain manufacturer Metzler & Ortloff. This piece also bears an unusual M&O hallmark (please see photo), stating Metzler & Ortloff Underglaze, with the work Germany, and someone has hand painted the word EAST under the word Germany. An oddity indeed! Bearing the typical M&O colors, the piece features a lovely English Setter dog with beautiful modeling. The dog itself is 2 1/4" tall. The ashtray measures 6 1/4" by 5 3/8".
